Starting this blog was definitely a learning curve, particularly because I am (unfortunately) not very ‘tech’ inclined. However, although I have found some parts rather frustrating (like changing the font colour…) overall the experience has been fairly positive! I’ve enjoyed writing my first few blog posts and I am quite eager to get ‘blogging’ about my free inquiry topic. In all honesty I thought creating a blog web page would be simpler than I found it to be at first, however that being said I am finding that with a little bit of practice (and some patience!) I am beginning to get the hang of it! One of my main tasks this week will be to continue to practice navigating the editing side of this web page and play around with customizing it a bit more to my taste. A few things I would like to change/improve are: the font colour as well as adding a few photos to make the page more visually pleasing. All in all I am pretty excited to try something new and am really looking forward to starting my weekly blog posts, I think this may become a highlight for me!
To begin with I had a bit of a difficult time choosing a topic for my free inquiry. There are many different subjects that I am interested in and I have several hobbies, however I was struggling to choose just one thing. After reaching out to for some help, I was able to fully understand the project and decided to do my free inquiry on English as a second language, or more specifically, teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in the Third Millennium. For the past few years, I have had a keen interest in the possibility of pursuing a career in teaching English as a second language in foreign countries. I was inspired by my aunt, who has taught all around the world and is now a professor at Douglas College in Vancouver, B.C. I thought this project/blog page would be the perfect opportunity to do some research for myself and perhaps other teacher candidates who may also find they have a similar passion!
